This one belongs to my husband. He really likes old cars and trucks and is always looking for them off the side of the road, especially when we go driving through little towns up in the mountains of East Tennessee. When he saw this one, we stopped and took pictures of it in hopes that I could paint something for him. He dreams of restoring one some day, until then, he has this.
My teacher, David, and I still laugh about this one to this day. This is the first thing I painted after the "beginner tree picture." When he told me to get out colors for the truck, I told him I didn't have any black. He laughed. Turns out there's not one drop of black in the whole thing. Funny really, since, to me, it was just an old black truck.

My oldest son likes all things "Star Trek." I must confess, he comes by it honestly, even though I don't know even an inkling of the Trekkie trivia he knows. This was one of his birthday presents 2 years ago. When I gave it to him, he proceeded to tell me all the in's & out's of the ship - very affirming that I had gotten it right.

This was painted as a gift for the Women's Ministry of Community Church of Hendersonville. Several different artists within our church body created their own renditions of this tree which was the logo for their 2009 Fall Women's Retreat. The theme was "A God-shaped life is a flourishing tree," a quote taken from Proverbs 11:28.16x20
